Pelle Cass
Artist Pelle Cass makes images that combine a multitude of real moments into a single alternate reality. Every photographic work is a composite of isolated, unaltered elements, be it a person, object, or something in the atmosphere, from potentially thousands of high-speed frames he captures in a specific location over a determined time period. Ultimately, the final image might suggest a new narrative; in reality, it is simply an artful, meticulous reorganization of the moments we might have missed––what Pelle calls an accumulated truth. Despite the variety in his chosen subject matter–from sports to fashion to street culture–the human impulse to explore the details in his more complex composites is irresistible.
Pelle’s work has been exhibited in several Museums around the world, including the KMAC Museum of Contemporary Art, the Masovian Center for Contemporary Art, Poand, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, Lincoln, MA, the International Center of Photography, New York, NY, the Graphic Matters International Bienial, The Netherlands, and the New Mexico Museum of Art, Sante Fe.
Pelle is currently based in Brookline, Massachusetts.
